I would like to bring together eclectic dance/ electronic (non-experimental) artists for a monthly event. You will need your own headphones and cartridges, but sound, monitors and decks will be provided.

As the promoter, will not be making any money on this even unless this event commands a cover charge. In that event, the money collected will be split between the DJ’s and myself in equal parts.

Tentatively, the event will begin at 9PM and end at 1:30-2AM. Sets will be mapped out in 1-hour increments, but the last hour and a half will be reserved for the closing DJ. So each month, 4-DJ’s are needed.

As a side note, I would love to the first hour to be reserved for a DJ, with 6-months of experience or less.

I am selling a duplicate copy of Orchestration by Walter Piston (1955) that I received as a birthday present. I still have my original copy for constant reference, and I would respectfully advise and composers, be they film composers or concert composers, to keep a copy of Pistons Orchestration on their shelf for guidance and reference with regards to orchestration.

I thought this might be a good location to find composers interested in such a book. Due to lack of takers, I've just thrown it up on ebay for auction. If you are interested you can find it there:

http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQfgtpZ1QQfrppZ25QQsassZdunboyne

Bidding starts at $22.95 which is nearly HALF PRICE. It's a steal for anyone interested.

About the Book
In this book, Walter Piston again draws upon his own wide knowledge and experience as composer and teacher to present all phases of the subject of orchestration. No practical aspect of instrumentation for the orchestra is neglected, and comprehensive treatment is given to each significant section.

The author approaches orchestration from the premise that the principles can best be presented by analysis of music as it has been written. The essentials of instrument combination discussed here are those which can be observed operating in the scores of great composers from Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven down to our day.

Orchestration is notable for the clarity and logic of its organization. From a consideration of the individual instruments and their technical problems the author skillfully develops his analysis of orchestration, covering instrumentation of primary and secondary melodies, part writing, chords, and contrapuntal techniques. Finally, he discusses typical problems in orchestration together with some examples of thier solutions.

Orchestration is profusely illustrated with hundreds of musical examples and with drawings of the various musical instruments that make up the modern orchestra.

Walter Piston was Professor of Music at Harvard University. An outstanding composer whose many works have been performed by leading orchestras and chamber ensembles both here and abroad, he received the Pulitzer Prize twice for distinguished musical composition.

I am working on a plan to promote indie-artists and bands in India - through various channels like direct marketing & club representation, etc. I am mostly looking at direct sales for CDs (min. 1000 pieces) through a well-knit network of music lovers, which I am in the process of developing. Basically I am open to any genre - which sounds good but is not commercial and yes, eclectic - becoz Indian music lovers are opening to new sounds. We'll test market in Clubs & then sell to a captive database of music afficianados in major Indian metros. Anybody who has or knows someone with great music to share - and who wants to capture the big Indian market, pls reply to me with details. U can send me ur website, clips, bios etc on parvezagm23@yahoo.co.in
I'm posting in the spirit of this group - to leave music for people to listen to. There are 2 entire albums of film scores on the music page at my site. I will actually have another up within 2 weeks when the remixing is complete for the soundtrack CD to GRACE, and there is a bunck of contemporary music going online too. I will update the posting when it is all there.

I hope it is an adventure in listening for whomever visits! The music is at:

** FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE **

Exotic folk electronica group Falik releases their second CD!

A little over a year has passed since Magic Lantern Recording act "Falik" released their breakout CD "Streaks and Strokes". Their latest effort burns even brighter.

"The Ballad of el Efe"

This second release from Falik is full of the high energy dance music you've come to expect from this Southern California duo. It's slightly different in context, however, as you'll find more grooves within a wider range of styles. There's a real synthesis between the natural Irish bouzouki sound and the digital components that produce a heady mixture of world fusion dance music.

Charlie Pecot and Cheryl Pecot of Falik would like to personally invite you to hear their story...

"The Ballad of el Efe"

You can get your copy and listen to the sound samples here: http://falikshow.com

Want unlimited space to host your music?
Want unlimited file sizes?
Want to upload a complete live concert?
Want to protect your recordings with a Creative Commons liscense but wasn't sure how?

Then you really need to check this out!

Think of this site as a huge library. You need to get yourself a virtual library card to use it, but everything is free :)

You need an ftp client in order to upload your tracks and the process of getting your music there is a bit long winded and sometimes complicated, but the advantages far outway the dissatadvantages in my opinion ;)

http://www.archive.org/audio/collection.php?collection=opensource_audio

After you have uploaded your track, you need to import it into their system, where it will join a short queue to be checked to make sure that you are not uploading the Beatles entire discography or similar LOL.

You will then be asked a couple of questions which will determin which Creative Commons liscense gets attached to the music.

Your track will then be made available to stream and will even be converted to all the popular formats (unless you don't want it to!).

I had a go at deep linking, not thinking that it would work, but it did!!!

If anybody needs any help in using the site, let me know :)
